AHK Script: Show Date/Time of Boot and Elapsed Time Since Boot |
Thursday, January 5th, 2012 18:14:50 GMT |
To the Windows section, I added Show_Date_Time_of_Boot_and_Elapsed_Time_Since_Boot.ahk - a simple script that displays a message box showing the approximate date/time your computer booted and how many hours, minutes and seconds have elapsed since then. The elapsed time doesn't update.
Thanks to "closed" at the AHK forum for the FormatSeconds function, which I slightly modified.
If you want a clock that shows the elapsed time since boot and which updates in real time, you might prefer boottime.zip by AHK forum member "closed", which is available at this AHK forum thread: Elapsed Time Since Boot - Displayer

RSS Subscribers: I'm moving this blog's RSS feed - please resubscribe |
Thursday, June 14th, 2012 18:39:53 GMT |
I finally decided to ditch FeedBurner and serve my blog's RSS feed directly from Astroblahhh.Com.
So, my estimated 4 or 5 RSS subscribers, please subscribe to this RSS feed address instead:
As for why I bothered to do this - I just think it's better not to be dependent on an outside website to handle something like my blog's RSS feed, since if FeedBurner ever got shut down, poof, suddenly I'd have no way to reach my RSS subscribers.
This great essay I found on LinuxMafia.com points out a lot of reasons why using "Web 2.0" services like FeedBurner is a bad idea.
If you don't know what an RSS feed is, here's Wikipedia's article on RSS.

Perl Script: Customized Random Xlock Screensaver |
Saturday, July 14th, 2012 19:19:40 GMT |
I added a new Perl script to the Linux section:
It definitely works in Lucid Puppy 5.2.8, and might work in other Linuxes with or without modification.
It just starts a random xlock screensaver, choosing from an assortment of your favorites, and using whatever additional custom command line options you like.customized-random-xlock-screensaver.txt

Tuesday, July 31st, 2012 16:31:28 GMT |
I added another new Perl script to the Linux section:
It opens a terminal window with a prompt where you can type shortcut commands to quickly open any folder path using the file manager of your choice.
As always, donations and microdonations are welcome.Apollia's Navigation Command Prompt for Linux

Updated French/English Web Browsing/Translation Frames |
Monday, August 6th, 2012 04:02:28 GMT |
I finally updated the French<->English Web Browsing/Translation frames.
They can be browsed online or downloaded in a zip file: Astroblahhh_Com-2012-08-05-French_Language_Frames.zip
Hopefully I'll have my first Livemocha Summer Challenge video finished on 8/6.
It will probably be pretty boring, so I'm going to try to keep it short.
Update, 8/6/2012, 5:32 PM. I just fixed a slight glitch in the frames, and reuploaded the online version and zip file.
(The glitch was: in Windows XP in Firefox 14.0.1, I couldn't type anything in the Français->Anglais Google Translate text field because clicking it toggled a checkbox instead.)
I actually finished one earlier this morning after a lot more work than I thought it would take. But, I'm not pleased with the results, and don't feel like putting myself through the stress of releasing something I'm not happy with.
Sure, I'd really like a Livemocha gold key. But, for me, making and releasing uninspired videos is too much pain for too little gain.
And so is updating this website, at least at the moment. Seems like a waste of time and energy better spent elsewhere. So, I might not post much of anything at all for who knows how long. No idea when the flow of inspiration might lead me back here.
As always, donations and microdonations are welcome.
Update, 8/7/2012 2:45 AM. I changed my mind about releasing videos for the Livemocha Summer Challenge.
New How To Guides section |
Thursday, August 9th, 2012 08:04:44 GMT |
I added a new How To Guides section, with one guide I just made earlier this morning:
