Signed a petition to allow the f.lux software on iPhones and iPads |
Monday, November 23rd, 2015 20:45:48 GMT |
Several days ago I signed this petition. And to explain why, and also share the comment I posted when I signed it, I posted this blog post (recently retitled for clarity, around 5:16 PM EST) at Non24.Com:
There are currently 2083 signatures as I write this.
I really hope blue light isn't really that bad, since I quite like the color blue at times, and even my eyes are blue.
Oh, well. I'm glad at least Astroblahhh.Com has always had this mostly red theme - except it currently has some blue links, which I guess I ought to change. Addition, 4:09 PM EST. OK, changed, but someday I'll have to perfect the colors.
The petition mentions some quite negative things about blue light, which finally motivated me to change the default designs on the Non24.Com Forum and the Eryss.Com Forum. The original default design, named "Astronomy", is still available, but only if you're logged in.

Comment in response to "Challenges in attracting students to research careers" on NHLBI Strategic Visioning Forum |
Friday, May 15th, 2015 11:37:14 GMT |
I posted a comment on someone else's idea on the NHLBI Strategic Visioning Forum, where people can post ideas and comments, and vote on them:
Yes, many years ago, I thought I might like to pursue a scientific career. Good thing I didn't, though... because I ended up with an embarrassingly major interest in astrology, among other odd paranormal topics. :-)
Though, I guess my interest in odd paranormal topics actually might not have destroyed my scientific career if I had one, because I probably would have kept my mouth shut about my interest in odd paranormal topics. But, I'm sure that would have felt quite unpleasantly stifling.
I don't expect to get inspired to post anything else to the NHLBI Strategic Visioning Forum, but, who knows? It's probably more likely that I will if someone comments on my comments or ideas.

Short blog comment about systemd and Puppy Linux |
Thursday, March 19th, 2015 14:32:17 GMT |
I posted a short comment in response to a blog post at the fascinating IgnorantGuru's Blog, by the author of SpaceFM:
Which, despite the title, also mentions systemd and has comments about it.
My comment is like an abbreviated version of what I said in my preceding blog post, titled systemd - probably a bad thing.
The Updated Info On SpaceFM blog post itself and other people's comments are far more interesting than my comment!
But, it seemed worthwhile for me to post my comment, since no one had brought up Puppy Linux yet.

Blog Comment |
Lately, I haven't been posting much of anything anywhere on the entire internet. (Which actually isn't that unusual, since I am overall a shy person.)
But a couple weeks ago, I posted a comment at the The Freelance to Freedom Project blog in reply to this blog post:
Here's a direct link to my comment.
I just was writing about free, libre, open source stuff again, mostly.

My Writing Elsewhere on the Web |
Wednesday, June 18th, 2014 15:03:47 GMT |
A rather silly thing I've done over the years has been, I've written and posted sometimes very long, hopefully interesting posts to places other than my own website, and never posted them here, nor even linked to them from here. (Well, a lot of them, I did link to, but not all of them.)
So, I'm going to start posting more links to at least some of them. Unless they're too boring, or I forget, or I don't feel like it for whatever reason.
And I probably ought to republish at least some of the things I've posted elsewhere, especially from sites that no longer even exist on the web, like closed-down forums, or my old blog on the closed social networking site Zaadz.com.
And I ought to update this website in general a lot more. Which would be easier if I wasn't living in continual fear from my family's financial problems and my inability to make enough money to support even just myself alone.
So, I welcome donations and microdonations and purchases of goods or services. (No goods are available as I write this, but, maybe that will change soon.)
Anyway, I guess I'll just start by posting a single link. I didn't start the following Beats Music Support Forum thread, I just replied briefly to it:
