It has been so long I can't remember, but I think we may have actually run into Sleepy Hollow Cemetery (the famous one, featured in Washington Irving's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow) unintentionally, without looking for it or knowing it was so close or even in New York State. Of course, once we realized where we were, we had to go look around.

It was quite a large cemetery, with roads to drive through it. Satisfyingly, it was just the kind of atmospheric, old, beautiful place you'd expect it to be. It was so large and hilly it would probably be easy to get lost in.

It could easily be my favorite cemetery that I've ever been to. (Except I also really liked Swan Point Cemetery in Providence, RI - though in part, that could be because I'm possibly being slightly biased by pseudo(?)-nostalgia. Except it really is a beautiful cemetery, if my memory serves me).

At one point we stopped, and some nice lady just walking around told us where some wooden bridge or something was, that was used in Irving's story as the place where the Headless Horseman would ride across, or something. I think we went there, but I didn't take a picture. If I recall correctly it wasn't really anything special, just a really plain, nondescript wooden bridge.

Anyhow, this was a nice carving on a grave we drove by. That line is our car's back window. The window, irritatingly, simply wouldn't roll down any farther than that.
