Danvers, Massachusetts, formerly Salem Village, Massachusetts, where the infamous witch trial hysteria took place.
This is just a church there which probably has nothing to do with the witch hysteria at all, since according to this page the oldest existing church structure in Danvers is from 1848. But, my family members somehow got the mistaken idea that this church was around back during the witch hysteria - I was always doubtful, though, because this thing just doesn't look that old to me.
Anyhow, Danvers is a pretty drab place, which scarcely advertises itself at all as being the actual site of the dreadful goings-on. Salem is the place that's the real tourist center, teeming with shops of junky occult trinkets, and anorexic-looking teenage girls dressed in all black milling through the cemeteries.
I didn't take any pictures of Salem, but while we were there, I, by chance, happened to have a rather unfortunately-placed bit of acne at the base of my nose, the classic "witch's wart", which, even though I was dressed completely normally (unlike some people we saw), naturally got me some amused looks, both there and in Danvers. It actually took me a while to figure out why people were smiling at me so much... :-)
